Black Hills State picked to repeat in DAC men’s basketball poll
(Dickinson, ND) – Defending conference champion Black Hills State is the definitive favorite in the Dakota Athletic Conference Preseason Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll.
The Yellow Jackets received seven first place votes to top the poll. BHSU returns all five starters to a team that advanced to the semifinals of the NAIA Division II National Tournament. Leading the way will be DAC MVP and second team NAIA All American Luke Enos and NAIA Honorable Mention All Americans Cain Atkinson and Will John Johnson.
Minot State, who returns DAC Defensive Player of the Year Mister Carney, picked up the final first place ballot to finish second.
Jamestown College and South Dakota Mines are third and fourth in the balloting. The Jimmies have five starters returning to their roster; led by second team All DAC center John Peabody and third team All DAC guard Byron Jones. The Hardrockers have first team All DAC guard AJ Trennepohl and second team All DAC guard Robbie Fedor returning to their lineup.
Dickinson State, with first team All DAC and NAIA Honorable Mention All American guard Nate Lebsock returning, placed fifth; followed by Valley City State, Mayville State and Dakota State.
The poll was conducted by the Dakota Athletic Conference.
